چکیده
This paper draws on perspectives from co-design as an integrative and collaborative design activity co-simulation a supporting information system to advance engineering methods for problems of societal significance. Design implementation the Sustainable Infrastructure Planning Game provides prototypical artifact that leverages High Level Architecture standard. Three role players create strategic infrastructure plan agriculture, water, energy sectors meet sustainability objectives growing urbaninzing population in fictional desert nation. An observational study conducts 15 sessions understand underlying dynamics between actors how capabilities influence outcomes. Results characterize dependencies conflicts player roles based technical exchange resource flows, identifying tension agriculture water demands irrigation. Analysis shows correlation data exchange, facilitated by synchronous co-simulation, highly-ranked achievement joint Conclusions reflect opportunities challenges presented settings address systems problems.

Collaborative design in the sustainable infrastructure planning game
The pursuit of sustainable large-scale infrastructure systems demands new design tools to exchange information among distributed decision-makers. This paper describes and demonstrates interoperable simulation gaming as a collaborative infrastructure design activity. The Sustainable Infrastructure Planning Game (SIPG) is a prototype implementation using the High Level Architecture (HLA) to excha...
متن کاملCo-modelling and Co-simulation in Embedded Systems Design
This chapter introduces the first basic concepts of co-modelling and co-simulation, including notions of system, model and co-model, simulation and co-simulation, etc. It also describes the ways in which co-modelling and co-simulation can be integrated with established development processes such as IEEE 15288 (Systems and Software Engineering—System Life Cycle Processes, [45]) and IEEE 12207 (S...
متن کاملSustainable urban systems: Co-design and framing for transformation
Rapid urbanisation generates risks and opportunities for sustainable development. Urban policy and decision makers are challenged by the complexity of cities as social-ecological-technical systems. Consequently there is an increasing need for collaborative knowledge development that supports a whole-of-system view, and transformational change at multiple scales. Such holistic urban approaches a...
متن کاملA Game Theoretic Approach for Sustainable Power Systems Planning in Transition
Intensified industrialization in developing countries has recently resulted in huge electric power demand growth; however, electricity generation in these countries is still heavily reliant on inefficient and traditional non-renewable technologies. In this paper, we develop an integrated game-theoretic model for effective power systems planning thorough balancing between supply and demand for e...
متن کاملAn Engineering Environment for Hardwarelsoftware Co-Simulation
We describe an environment supporting concurrent hardware and software engineering for high performance systems. In place of a conventional bread-boarded prototype, we used distributed communicating processes to allow software and simulated hardware to interact. We extended the Cadence Verilog-XL simulator to enable software debugging and testing using hardware simulation. The environment was p...
